Born in 1996 in Friedrichshafen, Germany,
Thimo Niesterok started to take trumpet
lessons at the age of 8. At that time he
had already discovered his love for jazz.
As soon as his trumpet skills allowed him, he started learning jazz standards and began to improvise and compose. His interest for music widened and he learnt playing the piano and the double bass.
It did not take him long to make his mark in the jazz scene, he played in several Big Bands, Small Bands and gained experience as band leader in his own formations.
From 2013 to 2016 he was a member of the Landesjugendjazzorchester Baden-Württemberg (youth orchestra of the county Baden-Württemberg), under the direction of Bernd Konrad and Rainer Tempel.
In October 2015 he started to study jazz trumpet at Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne, Germany with Matthias Bergmann and Andy Haderer.
The first album, “First Clambake”, of his swing formation Cologne Clambake was published in 2017.
Thimo Niesterok has been on tour and played in concerts in several towns and cities in Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Italy and Croatia but also as far as India and South Korea (during the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang 2018).
As winner of the Kobe Jazz Street Award at Breda Jazz Festival 2018, Thimo Niesterok will be invited as soloist to Kobe Jazz Street Festival in Kobe / Japan
